Every kid can ride. We'll prove it.
Coach Andrew Garza has one mission: teach every kid in San Antonio how to ride a bike. Fun, patient, play-based lessons that take little ones from first wobble to riding free, no training wheels required.

Program!
A lesson for every stage of riding
Whether your child is brand new to two wheels or ready to hit the trails, there's a program built for them.
Private lessons
Your child gets the coach's full attention at their own pace. Great for nervous riders or for getting off training wheels fast.
- Flexible scheduling
- Siblings welcome
- Bike fit & safety check
Small-group lessons
Kids learn faster riding alongside friends. Fun games build balance, coordination and confidence.
- 5 lessons for the price of 4
- Outdoor sessions
- Spots are limited
First-time rider clinics
A gentle introduction to two wheels. We focus on the fundamentals: balance, steering, stopping and, most of all, having fun.
- No experience needed
- Ask about loaner bikes
- Helmet required
5 lessons from first wobble to pedaling
Coach Andrew's proven 5-step curriculum. Progress is based on readiness, not age, so every kid moves at their own speed.
The Chalk Lesson
We draw a colorful chalk course. Kids walk it, run it, then roll it with their bikes. Pure fun, zero pressure.
Slopes & Structure
On to a real course with gentle slopes. Kids start steering, coasting and building body awareness.
Stride & Glide
Feet up! Kids learn to stride, lift their feet and glide. This is where real balance clicks.
Putting It Together
Chalk course, slopes and free ride all at once. Coach checks who's ready for pedals.
Pedal Time! π
Pedals on. Stride, glide, balance and pedal. Independent, confident riding.
πͺ Every lesson ends with fun at-home "rider homework": push-ups, squats, jumping jacks and bike lifts.
πHi, I'm Coach Andrew Garza!
My promise is simple: I can and will teach every kid I can how to ride a bike. Nervous riders, wobbly riders, "we tried and gave up" riders. Bring them all. Trust the program!
I'm a former collegiate baseball player, so I know what it takes to set goals and reach them, even when you're little. After I hung up my cleats, I found a new passion: helping kids discover the thrill and freedom of riding a bike.
I started out volunteering at San Antonio parks, guiding kids as they learned to balance, pedal and steer for the first time. Seeing the pride on their faces when it finally clicked is why I started Balance Bike Academy.
Today I coach private and group lessons using positive, play-based techniques that let every child build confidence at their own pace.
Balanced Bikes Academy
Coach Drew & the Kids of PedalvilleMeet Coach Drew of Pedalville
Coach Andrew wrote a picture book! Balanced Bikes Academy follows Coach Drew, a kind-hearted, adventurous bike rider in the sunny town of Pedalville, as he teaches kids to balance, glide and ride.
"They learned that with determination and a little bit of practice, they could accomplish anything they set their minds to."
It's the perfect way to get little ones excited before their first lesson, and a sweet keepsake after they learn to ride.
The fastest way to learn to ride
Balance bikes teach the hardest part, balance, first. Most kids skip training wheels entirely.
Balance comes first
Kids learn to balance and steer naturally, so pedaling later is easy.
Real confidence
Feet can touch the ground anytime, so kids feel safe and in control.
Life skills
Coordination, focus and the pride of mastering something hard.
This is what the program looks like
Chalk courses, high-fives and a whole lot of "look at me!" moments.

Get notifiedQuestions parents ask
What age can my child start?
Most kids are ready around age 2. Lessons run up to age 8, including kids moving from training wheels to a pedal bike.
Do we need our own bike?
Bring your child's balance bike or pedal bike if you have one. No bike yet? Ask us about borrowing one for your lessons.
What should my child bring?
A properly fitted helmet is required. Closed-toe shoes, water and sunscreen are recommended.
Where are lessons held?
Outdoors at parks around San Antonio. We'll confirm the exact spot when you book.
How many lessons will it take?
Every child is different. Many kids make big progress in 3β5 lessons, which is why our 5-lesson pack is the most popular option.
What if it rains or gets too hot?
Safety comes first. If the weather isn't safe for riding, we'll reschedule your lesson.
